Christmas greeting 2024 - Cardinal Giorgio Marengo

It is Christmas. A mystery to be contemplated with faith and that speaks of joy, peace and hope. Yes, the hope that we are invited to rediscover and experience in a special way in the Jubilee year that we will begin together on 29 December, with the solemn celebration in our cathedral. The Ordinary Jubilee is linked to the ancient tradition of the people of Israel: a time for conflict resolution, for a return to justice, for reconciliation. A time to begin again. The Church has made this intuition her own, associating the jubilee with the mystery of the redemption wrought by Christ, and invites us to consider this time too as an occasion, a special grace for rediscovering the beauty of faith and recreating the conditions for harmony among ourselves. Reconciling ourselves with God and with each other: this is the heart of the Jubilee experience. We also need it here in Mongolia.
May it truly be a year of return to Christ and reconciliation among ourselves, to resume our journey as disciples-missionaries with enthusiasm. As the Church in Mongolia, we wish to live as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, sowing truth, justice and beauty around us.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holy Year!
Card. Giorgio Marengo
