2024-10-02

The Second Session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops is being held from Wednesday, 2 October, to Sunday, 27 October 2024, in Rome, Vatican. As Pope Francis requested all churches in the world to live under the theme “journey together” between years 2021-2024. In the beginning of Synod, all churches in the world participated in the study, which was open to all the people of God, no one being excluded. All the people of God contributed their voice of how to make a synodal church.

This Synod study was the largest in the history of the Catholic Church, carried out within the framework of the goal that the Church should listen to the voices of all peoples in the world. In terms of time, this synod is unique in that it has been held for the longest time.

The final goal of the Synod is to determine the nature and style of the future churches from the "Second Session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops," which is being held these days.
In a word, this is a very important event for the church because it will give us a direction for how we will walk in the future.

Cardinal Giorgio Marengo is participating in the second session of the Synod and asks us to pray for the outcome of the meeting.
