The Pastoral Letter of Bishop Giorgio Cardinal Marengo was published

The pastoral letter is issued before the beginning of the liturgical year. It lays the pastoral plan for the coming year. Cardinal Marengo presented it to the assembly of parish priests last December 7, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

The year 2023 was announced as the year of Mary. In this coming year, 2024, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, reflected on the sermon he gave in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Ulaanbaatar during his visit on September 2, 2023. Our Bishop, Cardinal Marengo, asked us to pay attention to what the holy father wanted to tell us and to continue our pastoral journey in line with it.

The building is located within the grounds of the parish and was blessed by our current bishop, Cardinal Marengo on Sunday, December 10, 2023. The building can host training workshops, receptions and conferences.

The cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Ulaanbaatar installed its new Cathedral Rector

On Sunday, December 17, 2023, Cardinal Giorgio Marengo appointed Fr. Paul Leung, SDB as the new rector of the Cathedral. Fr. Paul Leung is a Salesian priest and who came to Mongolia in 2006. Since 2015, he has been the director of the "Don Bosco Vocational Training Center" in Ulaanbaatar. In 2021 he has been chosen as a member of the mission council of the prefecture.

He shared his opinion of what is Parish for him?

Jesus said, “there shall be one flock and one shepherd” (Jn 10,16) The Holy Church is His flock. However, in the flock, there are many sheepfolds to gather the sheep. In each sheepfold, there should be a shepherd to take care of the sheep on behalf of the Good Shepherd – Jesus Christ. These sheepfolds are called the parishes. The faithful will be nurtured by the spiritual food through the sacraments and other sacramentals. They gather together to form one family in which they will support and encourage one another to match towards holiness. This sheepfold as a whole also has the responsibility to expand the fold through evangelization. If the sheepfolds (parishes) are strong and joining force together, the “one flock and one shepherd” will be realized.
